Questions with Grace Price,

“Hello everyone! My name’s Grace Price and this is my interview with Let’s Prowess.”

What is the inspiration for your song “Two Tone Dragonfly”?

The song is written about a friend of mine – she’s very close to me and had been through a lot. The way she handled everything and who she is as a person (she’s a very strong person) just completely blows me away. I love her very much and just had to write a song about her.

What musical artist would you bring back to life for one last performance?

I would probably bring back John Denver. I just think he has created some of the most beautiful songs on Earth, I would love to ask him about things. Just to see him on stage and hear the music…I would love that.

What language would you like to learn?

Well, I’m currently learning French at school and I just love it. I’d love to be able to speak it fluently – so if I had to choose one language to be able to speak without even thinking it would be French.

When did you start to play music?

Well, I’ve been singing for as long as I can remember – my Mum used to sing to me when I was a baby and I kind of adapted on from that, so I’ve been singing since I was a ‘diddy’ toddler. I started playing guitar when I was around 12 or 13, and that was probably when I wrote my first song as well. It wasn’t a very good one, obviously, because we all have to start somewhere, but I think that was when I kind of decided that music could genuinely be an option for what I want to do in the future. That kind of just lit a fire; I was very passionate about it from thereon out and that’s how I’ve got to where I am now

Do you have any pets?

No, I would love a little dog or a cat, just love one! I don’t have any pets at the minute, but used to have a little dog but he’s passed on now. He was the most lovely thing and I would love to have another one.

If you could have dinner with any celebrity, who would you choose?

I would have to go with the queen Dolly Parton. I just think she is such an inspirational woman – she’s obviously all this big wig, big makeup, but she’s so clever and warm and genuine. I just think she’s a massive inspiration to me and my music and actually me as a person.

Do you prefer piano or guitar?

Well, I only actually play guitar; I’d love to learn more instruments like bass and drums, but I really would love to learn piano. I just think it’s the most beautiful sound and timbre.  So, I would absolutely love to play the piano.

Where does your passion for music come from?

Both my Mum and my Dad love music, us as a family just love it. My Mum sings and my Dad plays guitar – so I guess I’ve taken on both of those and write songs now. My brother loves music production – yeah, definitely my family and friend group all love music, and it’s just always something that’s been around me.

What was the last song you heard?

The last song I heard was actually Blue Spotted Tail by Fleet Foxes, and that’s because I use it to help me sleep! For when I go to bed it’s a very relaxed song, very pretty as well.

What is your goal?

That’s quite a big question! The plan is to go to university to study songwriting, I would just love after that to make music my full time career. I think it’s the most beautiful art form there is, and being able to commit the rest of my life to that would be the dream – even if it’s just gigging locally or becoming a music teacher. It’s really what I would love to do.
